FUSION PACKAGING PROMOTES
•Fusion Packaging’s Scene bottle was recently awarded the 2014
Cosmetic Package of the Year by the Institute of Packaging Professionals
(IoPP) AmeriStar competition, which recognizes packaging that demonstrates the best in innovation, product protection, economics, performance, marketing and sustainability.
Scene, a patent-pending bottle featuring a shatterproof, crystal-clear shade base for true color indication, was selected as the winning
package for the cosmetics category. The innovative bottle combines two
resins, polypropylene and PCTG, in a lightweight, single-walled package that is highly customizable. The package was also a finalist for the
IoPP’s Best of Show, Sustainability and Design Excellence Awards.
Winning the AmeriStar award qualifies Scene for the WorldStar
competition, the pre-eminent international packaging award sponsored by the World Packaging Organization (WPO). Fusion Packaging
previously won the AmeriStar and WorldStar awards for the twist-to-open Stu package in 2011.
Free App from
• Mobile apps have really
changed the way people
use their mobile phones.
Businesses, too, have seized
the opportunity to enable
their customers to use their
smartphones or tablets to
provide information on
products and services and
to make product selection
M&H Plastics (part of the RPC Group) recently launched a
free app on the Apple and Android platforms to help customers
select from a range of more than 1,300 packaging product formats. Working in a similar way to the search facility on their website, the app allows customers to identify and select samples for a
vast range of products either by product code or by shape, material, volume and neck finish. Advanced options are also available
for height and brimful searches as well as cap combinations.
“We have had really positive feedback from our customers
who use this app,” said Simon Chidgey, group sales and marketing director for M&H. “The ability to match existing products or
browse suitable packaging options for new products has helped
them reach decisions quickly.”
