At the center of the company’s success is,
of course, Leslie Wexner. Although he’s 75,
the Limited Brands’ founder has no plans to retire. In an interview last year with the Columbus
Dispatch, Wexner recalled advice from his father
nearly 40 years ago: “If you do retire, what I
would say is, you have to find something more compelling to do.”
Obviously, Wexner hasn’t found anything quite so compelling
as retail. He continues to build the company’s personal care and
beauty businesses and is determined to keep the concepts and
the SKUs, forever young.

Comments: Sales were flat last year at Mary Kay, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2013. The company notes that
more than 2.5 million people around the world are Mary Kay
consultants—and a growing number of these consultants are
based in India.
Mary Kay India will spend approximately $20 million during the next five years, as it eyes expansion in a country with
a fast-growing middle class.
Plans include expansion in Goa and Maharashtra with
a new warehouse and more
offices, according to the com-
pany, which first entered the
country in 2007.
