Innovation. Collaboration. Solution.
These three words have become the maxim by which Elé
Corporation approaches the challenges and opportunities it embraces in serving its customers around the world.
The company’s ingredients are the foundation of many successful formulations in Skin Care, Hair Care and Sun Care,
which has bolstered its reputation for technically viable solutions
and expertise in understanding chemical functionalities and
applications in the Personal Care market.
“Although our history dates back to 1945, Elé is known today
in the global marketplace as a solutions-focused manufacturer of
specialty chemical products to diverse but targeted markets with
which we have a long history and technical competence,” says
Michele Eubank, Vice President, Elé Corporation.
Also, Ms. Eubank explained, Elé is not only an ISO 9001:2008
certified global manufacturer of specialty and intermediate chemicals used in consumer products and industrial applications, but it
also maintains a solid reputation as a solutions-based company that
anticipates specialty manufacturing needs not yet imagined.
Its organo-modified silicones are used as conditioning agents,
color fixatives and hair resin plasticizers, providing shine, softness,
detangling and emollience. Its specialty surfactants are used as
foam stabilizers, viscosity builders, emulsifiers and mild cleansing surfactants. And, its emollients are found in a wide range of
creams, lotions and cleansing products.
What’s more, Elé can produce low minimum order quantities
within shorter lead times, always striving to enhance the quality
of its ingredients according to its customers’ exact specifications.
The company has been successful by delivering superior product
performance and cost-effectiveness, as well as products from renewable sources and greener alternatives.
A New Partnership
Earlier this year, the company announced a new, exclusive distribution relationship for Elé’s Personal Care ingredients in the
Northeast and Atlantic Coast regions of the U.S. with Callahan
Gregory Shetler, President of Callahan Chemical, commenting
on the new partnership, said, “We are delighted to offer an alter-
native line of amphoteric surfactants, organosilicone conditioning
agents, and other specialty ingredients to our customers in the
According to Ms. Eubank, Elé will continue to expand its
reach thru global partnerships. This will allow the company to
find the highest quality sources of ingredients while supplying
the international market with its innovative and quality products.
Keen Eye on New Product Development
As one of a small number of female CEOs in the specialty chemical manufacturing industry, Ms. Eubank has faced her share of
obstacles, but the greatest of them has been finding a distinguishing place for Elé in the vast middle-market manufacturing space.
“Typically,” she says,” I feel that we’re fighting to flourish
as a mid-size company in an ever consolidating ‘big-business
Ms. Eubank’s solution has been to position her company to
grow and prosper through R&D, with a keen eye on new product
development. “I want customers to stop asking us if we can
duplicate an existing ingredient and start asking us how we can
help them achieve their manufacturing goals,” she says, adding
that collaboration and co-invention continue to be the words that
Elé uses to describe itself…everyday.
Specifically, Elé personal care products are all-natural, low-glyc-erin, low odor, mild to skin and eyes, low-foam, high foam, and
proprietary as needed. They include:
• Color Fixatives • Emulsifiers
• Conditioning Agents • Preservatives
• Detergents • Emollients
• Foaming Agents • Silicone Waxes
• Foam Stabilizers • Humectants
• Surfactants • Viscosity Modifiers
