Patent Review
• US Patent No. 9,474,705 B2; ELC
Management LLC has patented a method
for whitening discrete hyperpigmented
spots on skin by applying a liquid pigmented treatment composition that has at
least one skin whitening active in a polymeric coating material comprising 1-35%
dimethicone silylate; from 1-50% of a
volatile solvent selected from the group
consisting of isododecane, dimethicone
and mixtures thereof; from 1-50% of a
non-volatile silicone oil having a viscosity
of 20 to 200,000 cst at room temperature;
from about 0.1 to 40% of a silicone surfactant; from about 0.1 to 15% of a quater-nized montmorillonite mineral; and from
0.5 to 65% titanium dioxide in combination with pigments that, upon exposure to
ambient air and moisture in skin, hardens
to a water resistant, water vapor permeable, conformable solid film that colors the
spots so they are shade matched with the
surrounding non-hyperpigmented skin
and remains unchanged for 24 hours after
application. It is designed to be applied to
the spots every 12 to 72 hours.
Combe Patents Air Oxidation
Hair Color Composition
• US Patent No. 9,474,704 B2; Combe
Incorporated has patented a method for
gradually coloring hair. It entails the fol-
lowing steps: applying an air oxidation
hair color composition to hair; removing
the composition from the hair directly
after application; and repeating a set of
steps in multiple spaced intervals. The air
oxidation hair color composition contains
a grooming agent selected from the group
consisting of a cleansing surfactant and a
conditioning agent.
Cosmetic Composition
Patented by P&G
• US Patent No. 9,446,265 B2; Procter &
Gamble has patented a finisher composition that is comprised of spherical starch
particles having a mean particle size of approximately 5 to 30 microns; a non-volatile
oil; and water. The composition includes
less than one weight percent of a pigment
and has a contrast ratio of less than 20. The
non-volatile oil is a silicone oil and has a
viscosity of 20 to 200 centistokes.
Non-Toxic Hand Cleaner
• US Patent No. 9,476,015 B2; Richard
Adam Cesari of Dallas, TX has been
awarded a US patent for a cleaning composition that contains at least one organic
solvent comprising vegetable oil; at least
one co-solvent that comprises propylene
carbonate; at least one water-in-oil emulsifier that comprises dipropylene glycol
mono methyl ether; nonionic surfactant;
at least one anionic surfactant; and water.
Diversey’s Effluent-Neutral
CIP/SIP Cleaning Solutions
• US Patent No. 9,476,017 B2; Diversey,
Inc., Sturtevant, WI, has patented a method of cleaning, sanitizing or disinfecting.
The method entails contacting a soiled
substrate with a cleaning, sanitizing, or
disinfecting composition that is com-
prised of tripolyphosphoric acid or a salt
thereof and optionally one or more food
grade agents selected from the group con-
sisting of carbonate, peroxyacetic acid or
salt thereof, and hydrogen peroxide. This
method does not include contacting the
substrate with hydroxide, is effluent neu-
tral, and is a clean-in-place (CIP) or sani-
tize-in-place (SIP) method.
Chewable Dental
Cleaning Product
• US Patent No. 9,474,698 B1; Brittany
Luzar of Durango, CO has patented a
dental biscuit that cleans the teeth when
chewed. The biscuit mixture is comprised
of rice flour, white whole wheat flour,
wheat starch, sugar, whole grain oat flour,
flavor powder, tricalcium phosphate, di-calcium phosphate, natural flavor, mixed
tocopherols, zinc sulfate, vitamin E powder, electrolytic iron, annatto extract and
fluoride free toothpaste.
Method for Cleaning Surfaces
• US Patent No. 9,476,014 B2; Joseph M.
Galimi, II of Mableton, GA, and Ronald
Jones of Charleston, SC have been awarded a US patent for a method to clean a
surface. It entails combining compositions
from two different vessels. The first composition consists of hydrogen peroxide as
an active component and water. The second consists of at least one of a silicate, a
carbonate, a bicarbonate and a percarbon-ate as an active component. •
ELC PATENTS KIT FOR WHITENING
HYPERPIGMENTED SPOTS
• US Patent No. 9,474,708 B2; Julius Zecchino of New York has
patented a formulation consisting of at least one hydrophilic polymer,
at least one desquamatory agent, water, at least one additive, preserva-
tives, flavoring and coloring agents, and alpha hydroxyl acid. The hydro-
philic polymer is selected from a group consisting of polyglutamic acid,
crosslinked polyglutamic acid, crosslinked hyaluronic acid, crosslinked
poly lactic acid, and combination and mixtures thereof. The desquama-
tory agent is selected from a group consisting of N-acetyl glucosamine,
glucosamine, glucosamine hydrochloride and combination and mixtures
thereof. The additive is selected from a group consisting of water, glyc-
erin, glycols, polyols, polyglutamic acid, hyaluronic acid, and combina-
tions and mixtures thereof. The alpha hydroxyl acid is mandelic acid.
